And I'm thankful to God that there is a silver lining to all these emotionally draining occurrence, in that many women are bold and courageous enough to come out and expose even talk about the degradation they faced in the hands of these hoodlums.
In the wake of this gut wrenching event ( KILLED UNIBEN STUDENT), I got talking with a friend and she shared an agonizing story of when she was at the University and her younger sister came to visit. you know the old school days 4 to 5 girls being in a single room, it was fun and the girls were happy that a room mate's younger sister came visiting.
The older girls were happy to show the younger girl around and were introducing her to school life in preparation for when she will also gain admission, the girl was only 16 years old as she just finished her school leaving certificate exams and waiting for the results.
Then came that fateful night when a Robber came to their room as they were staying off campus. All the girls were asleep when suddenly there was a break to their door, the door was not a well hitched door obviously because it got broken with a forceful push.
They all scrambled awake to know what was going on but already the bad guy was already in their room the security around that area was not that tight, and neighbors could not come out because everyone was afraid for his/her life as no one was sure about the numbers of the attackers or how armed they were.
The guy gained entrance and the girls were scared to death for their lives. Although the only weapon he held was a chisel but because it was so sudden, and all so unexpected they could not think rationally that they could actually overpower him. He took away their food stuffs, provisions and money but he also took something priceless.
The guy after raiding them of all their belongings looked at all of them and picked the young girl and Raped her. The Older sister attempted to attack the guy. Because she thought since the guy was distracted they could probably launched an attack on him. But this was only her thoughts and not the thoughts of the other girls. As the other girls saw that the guy was distracted trying to manhandle the young girl they took to their heels and ran for their lives as the door was still wide opened from the break in. The older sister was left alone but eventually she instinctively ran as well and left her younger sister in the hands of the Rapist. She was afraid she might not be able to handle the man all by herself.
She said and I quote " That was the most regrettable decision and action of my Life"
she asked herself over and over why she didn't wait to rescue her sister? She has been living with that guilt all her life.
I encourage anyone who has faced this kind of terror, see yourself through the eyes of God. Because when He looks at you all He sees is a beautiful young girl whom He loves so much. He does not see your scars, He loves you scars and all.
You might have been asking why God allowed these to happen? the truth is, I do not know, but one thing I know is, you can rise above it, you are a Survivor, Strong, Priceless, Beautiful, Courageous and Indefatigable, and Yes you are Special!!
And to the Rapist God is Watching you through 3D Lens and Remember Karma is a Bitch!!!!
I would like to view your comments in the comments section. Your opinion matter especially on the action of the older sister.
